Protecting Paws Animal Rescue
Protecting Paws Animal Rescue is an animal rescue based out of Prior Lake, MN. We are 100% foster based and do not operate out of a shelter. All of our fosters and board members are volunteers. We primarily focus on dogs and cats, but have also rescued guinea pigs, rabbits, pigs, goats and horses. Protecting Paws is always in need of volunteers, foster homes, adoptive homes, donations, and supplies. Without each and every one of these things, we cannot continue to save lives. Please let us know if you are able to help!

Southern Minnesota Animal Rescue Team, Inc.
We are a non-profit animal rescue organization run exclusively by volunteers. All of our animals are housed in foster homes to help promote a stable, loving environment until they can find their perfect new permanent home. Our purpose is to reduce the stray population and need for healthy animal euthanasia through spay/neuter programs, education, and promotion of respect for the furry creatures that share our lives.

Donations of your time are always welcome. We are always looking for good foster homes (we really need these), help with transports, fundraising, etc. Even a few hours a month can make a difference. If you think you would like to help out, please write or email. Cash donations are always gratefully accepted, too! Thank you!

Small Dog Rescue of Minnesota
Small Dog Rescue (SDR) is an all-volunteer group committed to the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of dogs 20 pounds and under. Dogs are fostered in volunteers' homes so they can be loved like a family member until they are placed in a suitable adoptive home, determined by a review of a written application, a criminal background check, several reference consultations, and a home visit. SDR is a no-kill rescue, resorting to euthanasia only when a dog is either suffering from an untreatable medical condition or considered dangerous and not responding to rehabilitative training efforts. SDR is a 501(c)(3) Federally Tax Exempt Organization and Non-Profit Tax Exempt Incorporated Organization.

Underdog Rescue and Placement, St. Louis Park, MN
Underdog Rescue and Placement was founded in 2000 by Shannon McKenzie. Having volunteered for several other animal rescue organizations, Shannon saw a need to help the dogs and cats often overlooked by other rescuers, the “Underdogs”. While in law school, Shannon McKenzie had the “anti-pitbull” policy changed, with the assistance of Attorney, Marshall Tannick. Underdog Rescue continues to successfully rescue and place Pitbulls and other “bully-breeds” through a continued partnership with Minneapolis Animal Control. Shannon’s dedication to the Underdog also extends to puppy mill survivors. Dogs that survive life in a puppy mill often come with a different set of challenges. They may require additional medical care, socialization and teaching of basic dog skills even though some may be adults. Our volunteers understand this and welcome these pets into their homes to show them what life as a dog and life with kind humans is like.

We need volunteers for lots of areas. If you are not a current volunteer, please click here and complete the Contact Us form letting us know you are interested in volunteering and how you may be able to help.

Foster Homes Needed
We are in need of foster homes for adult dogs. We have many very friendly dogs that just need to put in a home situation so that we know more about what they need for a permanent home. Please click here to see if your home situation will work for one of these great dogs. You just need to provide the love and attention!

Midwest Animal Rescue Services, Minneapolis, MN
Midwest Animal Rescue Services™ (MARS) is a dedicated and passionate group who rescues dogs and cats that are at risk and homeless through no fault of their own. Once in our care, these companion animals are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered. Special attention is provided for those animals that need additional time and medical care before going to a new home. MARS is committed to helping pets in need whenever possible, including all breeds and ages. MARS does not have a shelter facility for boarding. We are a foster-based rescue group that runs on the support and aid of dedicated volunteers and supporters. Our fostered pets live in homes, as family members, receiving all of the love and care they would in an adoptive home, until they are adopted. The adopters gain greater insight into the pets’ behavior and personality versus interacting with an animal who has been living in a kennel and the pet is more prepared for a loving home life. This helps produce the best match possible for the new families, resulting in a 99% success rate! MARS is an IRS recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Foster homes are the backbone of the rescue operation. Since MARS does not have any type of shelter facility, all of our dogs need caring, committed and qualified people to house them and help them take the next steps in their lives. MARS needs foster parents who will open their hearts and homes to a rescued dog (or cat) and care for them until they are adopted. Your responsibility will be to feed, play with, exercise, love and provide social interaction and to keep him healthy and happy while a forever home is found. Click here for more information.
